Big Buyers Working Together (BBWT) is an initiative of the European Commission (EISMEA) which seeks to help drive market demand for innovative and sustainable products and services in Europe. Public procurement can be a key tool in driving the development of innovative goods and services within the European market. Within this context Big Buyers Working Together supports collaboration between public buyers with strong purchasing power; and promotes the wider use of strategic public procurement for innovative and sustainable solutions.

Under the Big Buyers Working Together, ten Communities of Practice (CoPs) will be created on the Public Buyers Community platform. Each CoP will be devoted to the purchase of a specific product, work or service where European collaboration is needed. Healthcare is one of the CoPs. By working together and pooling their resources, cities, central purchasing bodies, and other major public buyers can maximise their market power and impact.

Big Buyers Working Together held their first Annual Conference on 24th April 2024 in Brussels. Participants at the event had the opportunity to learn about the PROCURE project; its key deliverables; and milestones. This was presented by colleagues from SILO, PROCURE Project Coordinator. The presentation helped stimulate interest and discussion on the project and provided an opportunity to develop relationships between PROCURE and the BBWT network. These relationships will help enrich the project's activities and amplify its amplify its work, particularly in establishing the PROCURE Community of Interest Forum.
